RIVER TIDES - why fast flood and a slow ebb? - ls uk 09
On the coast, the time between the tides, the following is approximately the same as the time between low tide and the next high tide (about 6 1 / 4 hours).
But in a tidal river is different: The tide is rising faster than it comes out (flash floods, slow response), and the higher the greater the difference. Therefore flood in Hammersmith Bridge is about 40 minutes later than the London Bridge, but the tide in Hammersmith is about 2 hours later than LBridge. For example, here are the tide times for today (from easytide.ukho.gov.uk):
Puente Alto, L 03.10
Raised in H'smith 03.49 + 39 min
Grew up in R'mond 04.14 + 1 1 / 4 hours
Under the bridge on the L 09.52
Low H'smith 11.48 + 2 hours
Low R'mond 13,00 + 3 hours
Can someone explain?

The tides are caused by the moon. I assumed that ID is on the sea only by the moon made of the ordinary, and because the rivers into the sea and the estuary is only influenced by the moon might have something to do with it ... . Good question
